KAILASH AND MANSAROVER:

Mount Kailash (Kangrinpoche) is situated in the Western part of the Tibet, has been considered sacred by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and Bompons for thousands of the years. For the Hindus and Buddhists, it is the center of the universe. A pilgrimage to the mountain and round it, is such a supreme goal for the faithful, it is easy to understand how after, walking overland for weeks or months, they feel, they are really approaching the center of the universe since ancient times.

Mt. Kailash has been revered as the source of four of the great rivers of the Asia, fuelled by the waters of nearby holy lake Manasarover. Rivers Indus, Brhmaputra (Tsangpo), Karnali (The sacred Ganges) have their sources within sixty miles of the mountain. One can reach this centre of the universe by joining our group or making separate tours/ treks.

MANSAROVER :
The great lake Mansarover is situated in the south-west corner of Tibet and in the north-west of Nepal. It beyond high Himalayas which borders Nepal and China. Tibetan plateau in itself is unique in its geographic make up with its fauna and flora and mythical setup of ecosystem. The lake is 20 kms from Mt.Kailash and is one of the most beautiful and sacred lake in Asia. It can be circumambulated in four or five days. It is often a gem like cobalt blue color but during storm, it can turn into a churning black sometimes.
According to Hindu and Buddisht epics, the four great rivers of the Indian sub-continent, the Indus, Ganga, Sutlej and Brahamaputra actually arise from Mansarover. In reality, only the Sutlej originates from the lake. Mansarover has been circumambulated by the Indian pilgrims at least since being extolled in the sacred Sanskrit literature called the Puranas around 1700 years ago. Legends has that the mother of Buddha, Mayadevi was bathe at Mansarovar by Gods before giving birth to her son.

Day to Day Itinerary for Mt. Kailash / Mansarover Trek

Day 1

NYLAM. Rest day for acclimatization. Overnight in Guest House.

KATHMANDU - NYLAM. Departure from Thamel at 06:00 am in the morning and drive to DHULIKHEL which takes approx. 1 hour. Breakfast will be provided at DHULIKHEL. After breakfast the drive will continue to Nepal border KODARI. Upon arriving at KODARI we go through the immigration formatlities and then drive to the Tibet / China border town of ZANGMU. Here also we go through the immigration formalities and we will meet our counterpart Tibetan GUIDE who will be there with the transportation and permit.We will provide lunch here. After lunch we further drive to NYLAM which take approx. 2 hours drive. Overnight in Guest House

Day 2

NYLAM. Rest day for acclimatization. Overnight in Guest House.

Day 3

NYLAM - SAGA. After breakfast start drive to Paikotsu OR Saga which takes approx. 10 hours. In the afternoon packed lunch will be provided. Upon arriving at PAIKOTSU LAKE we will try to cross the BRAHMAPUTRA river (time permitting) and try to drive till SAGA approx.. 20 mins. Overnight in Tented Camp. (If we could possibly cross the BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER and be able to camp at SAGA then it will be easier for us to continue the drive the next day.

Day 4

SAGA - PARYANG. After breakfast start drive to Paryang for approx. 8 hours. In the afternoon packed lunch will be provided. Overnight in Tented Camp.

Day 5

PARYANG - MAYUMLA PHEDI. Approx. 5 hour drive to Mayumla Phedi. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 6

MAYUMLA PHEDI - MANASAROVAR - CHU GUMBA. Approx. 7 hours drive to Chu Gumba. Overnight in Tented Camp.

Day 7

CHU GUMBA - SHERSUNG - DIRAPUK. Approx. 3 hours drive to Shersung. Upon arrival at Shersung you will be provided packed lunch and then start Parikrama (Trek) towards Dirapuk for approx. 5 hours. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 8

DIRAPUK - ZUTULPUK . Parikrama continues to Zutulpuk. The walk this day will be for aprox . 8 hours. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 9

ZUTULPUK - HORCHU - MANASAROVAR. Parikrama ends at HORCHU. This day it will be a 3 hours walk. At Horchu you will be provided packed lunch and then we will drive to MANASAROVAR for approx. 3 hours. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 10

MANASAROVAR - MAYUMLA PHEDI. Approx. 7 hours drive to Mayumla Phedi. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 11

MAYUMLA PHEDI - SAGA. Approx. 6 hours drive to Saga.. Overnight in Tented camp

Day 12

SAGA - PAIKOTSU LAKE. Approx. 8 hours drive to Paikotsu lake.. Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 13

PAIKOTSU - NYLAM. Approx. 7 hours drive to Nylam. Overnight in Guest House.

Day 14

NYLAM - KATHMANDUL.. Approx. 8 hours drive in total will bring you to Kathmandu. TRIP ENDS.

KAILASH PARIKRAMA WITH LHASA
(Tour 8) 21 Night / 22 Day

Day 1: Drive Kathmandu - Zhangmu (2300m) Nyalam (3750m)(6-7hrs) -Overnight at hotel /Camp.
Day 2: Drive Zhangmu/Nyalam-Pako Tso (4350m)(6-7hrs) -Camp.
Day 3: Drive Paiko Tso - Zhongba (4700m)(6-7hrs) - Camp.
Day 4: Drive Zhongba - Nyogze (4,600m)(6-7hrs) -Camp.
Day 5: Drive Nyogze - Lake Mansarovar (4,550m)(6-7hrs) -Camp.
Day 6: Drive Lake Mansarvar - Drive to Darchen (4560m)(1hr) -Camp.
Day 7: Start trek (circumambuance around Mt.Kailash) from Darchen -
Dirphuk (4890m)- Camp.
Day 8: Continue trek Dirphuk -Zutul Puk (4790m)- Camp.
Day 9: End trek at Darchen (5-6hrs) - Camp.
Day 10: End trek at Darchen to Tirthapuri (4300m) where one can enjoy hot
Water spring and have a relaxation -Camp.
Day 11: Drive Tirthapuri - Tsaprang (3680m) / Toling (3700m)(6-7hrs)-Camp.
Day 12: Explore Toiling & Tsaprang (9th century kingdom of Guge but in ruin
Forms) - Camp.
Day 13: Drive Tsaprang -Horfe (4520m)(6-7hrs) - Camp.
Day 14: Drive Horfe -Paryang (4450m)(8hrs) - Camp.
Day 15: Drive Paryang - Saga (4450m)(5-6hrs) - Camp.
Day 16: Drive Saga - Lhatse (3900m)(6hrs).
Day 17: Drive Lhatse to Xigatse (3900m)(6-7hrs) crossing over a pass of 5220m
Day 18: Morning sightseeing to the Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Monastery and
Drive to Gyantse (3950m)(2hrs) and visit Khumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery. Overnight at hotel Gyantse.
Day 19: Drive Gyantse to Lhasa (3650m)(7-8hrs). Full day picturesque drive
Crossing over Karo La (5010m), Kamba river Brahmaputra (Yarlung
Tsangpo) hotel.
Day 20: Two full day sight seeing tour to Lhasa including Jokhang temple,
Barkhor bazaar, Potala, Palace, Drepung & Sera Monasteries Hotel.
Day 21: Two full day sight seeing tour to Lhasa including Jokhang temple,
Barkhor bazaar, Potala, Palace, Drepung & Sera Monasteries Hotel.
Day 2: Early morning drive to Gonggar airport for departure flight to
Kathmandu. Or to your onward destination transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu
