Imja Tse was first named Island peak because of its resemblance to an island in a sea of ice when seen from above Dingboche.As well as providing an enjoyable climb the peak also provides some of the most striking scenery in the khambu,any other peaks can be seen from the summit including nuptse,Lhotse, Lhotse middle peak, Lhotse Star ,Cho polu,Makalu,Baruntse and Ama Dablam..
